Keyframe
A keyframe can have a different definition depending on whether it is being used in a narrative or technical perspective. From a narrative point of view, it is usually a specific frame in a video sequence which helps to capture the standout moment or essence of the story being told. From a technical perspective, in video compression (like in formats such as MP4), a key frame is a fully rendered image that contains all the visual data for that moment, acting as an anchor for subsequent frames (called "delta frames" or "interframes"), which only store changes from the key frame to save space. This is crucial for efficient streaming or playback ensuring smooth delivery without overloading bandwidth.
